do you think the new Apple iPad will fly off shelves?
i have this feeling it won’t.
It’s a "tablet", so no. They don’t really fill a gap in the market. If you want a small portable device, and you don’t need a proper keyboard, then most smart phones will do everything you want. And if you want a small device that’s light, will fit in an ordinary bag, but has a more user friendly design and keyboard, then a netbook is the best way to go.
I think the ipad might do a lot better than other tablets, because it will have a lovely interface, and will appeal to people who like their gadgets to be beautiful and fun to use, but I don’t think it will compete with smart phones or net books:)

I have no intention of purchasing one.
I own an Iphone and macbook pro.
When Apple themselves admit it is going to take some convincing to get consumers to buy it and apple’s shares drop I would not think this is a good sign for the ipad. What does the Ipad offer me? The look of it also is not appealing.

To be honest, as an Apple fan, I think this is overdoing it a bit. I mean you already have the successful iPhone’s and iPod Touch’s; this is practically a larger version of the two.
Also, the new iPhone is coming out this summer, which is very likely to fly off all shelves across the world, so no, the iPad will not fly off the shelves.

its cheap but still no. Maybe kids in like 6th-9th grade will buy it to show off. But, once they realize its too big to carry around, they’ll wish they just got the iPhone or iPod. It’s an iphone just bigger. Since its bigger, that gets rid of carrying it in a pocket (which is why a lot of people bought the iPhone in the first place) so the person can watch movies better. I don’t think it’ll sell but then again, it might if they do all the media and advertisements like they did with the iPhone.
If it was a mac but touch, then yes. Even if it did cost 1,500 dollars i think it would sell more then this piece of crap.
A new category in apple electronics? Answer: not at all….
IMO, they should’ve made it at least a bad computer and not this. Also, maybe a dvd/cd drive so they can do iTunes on it. This was not worth the Hype at all. I’m really dissapointed

"Fly" off the shelves? No. But it will be moderately successful. Just the little bit I heard about it, it sounds like it is not going after the laptop market, but the electronic book reader market. Just like the iPhone gave you a cell phone with a lot of extra functions, the iPad will give you a book reader with a lot of added function.

It doesn’t matter what little feature, or app they do people just go back, and buy it. They could add a sound recorder, or a new button, and people will still buy it. It happens every year.

its like a giant iphone. which uhm, shouldnt fly off shelves. like people will be like "WHY GET AN iPHONE WHEN I CAN GET SOMETHING EVEN BIGGER AND LESS PORTABLE"
